    Vaxholm is a city, urban area and the seat of Vaxholm Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden. It occupies the islands of Vaxön and Kullö in the Stockholm archipelago. The name Vaxholm comes from Vaxholm Fortress, which was constructed in on the adjacent islet of Vaxholmen.

    For historical reasons it has always been referred to as a city, despite the small number of inhabitants, which as of total was 6,[1] Vaxholm Municipality prefers to use the designation Vaxholms stad (City of Vaxholm) for its whole territory, including 64 islets in the Stockholm archipelago, a usage which is somewhat confusing.

    Vaxholm Fortress was originally constructed by Gustav Vasa in [citation needed] to defend Stockholm against shipborne attacks from the east. The fortress lies in the middle of the Kodjupet strait, one of two main routes into Stockholm from the open sea.[2]

    Rindö is an island in the central area of Sweden's Stockholm Archipelago, some 21 kilometres (13&#;mi) north-east of the city of Stockholm. From an administrative perspective, it is located in Vaxholm Municipality and Stockholm County. The island is about 5 kilometres (&#;mi) long and kilometres (&#;mi) wide and has an area of square kilometres (&#;sq&#;mi). There are two localities on the island, Rindö (formerly known as Oskar-Fredriksborg) and Rindöby&#;[sv].[1]

    The island is connected to Vaxholm town by the Vaxholmsleden car ferry&#;[sv] at its western end, and to Värmdö island by the Oxdjupsleden car ferry&#;[sv] at its eastern end. County road &#;[sv] connects the two, as does Storstockholms Lokaltrafik bus route , with some buses crossing on the ferry to Vaxholm. There is a bridge connection to the smaller adjacent Skarpö island.[1][2][3][4]

    Rindö är enstaka ö inom Stockholms ögrupp utanför Vaxholm. Ön existerar ca 5&#;km lång samt 1,2&#;km bred och besitter en yta av 4,46&#;km². Över Rindö leder länsväg , tillsammans vägfärjeförbindelser mot Vaxholm inom väster (Vaxholmsleden) och Värmdö (Oxdjupsleden) inom öster. ett busslinje (SL) går tvärs över ön och förbinder färjelägena. Vissa bussar går till/från centrala Vaxholm samt kör således ombord vid Vaxholmsledsfärjan. Broförbindelse finns mot Skarpö. vid Rindö finns en bebott område Rindö samt småorten Rindöby. På Rindö fanns även ett välkänt taxifik tillsammans med mat, tobak och spel samt en vandrarhem.

    Ön besitter i varenda tider varit viktig ur försvarshistorisk synpunkt, med befästningar sedan Gustav Vasas dagar. På Rindös östra blad hittar man försvarsverken Byviksfortet och Oskar-Fredriksborgs befästning såsom anlades på grund av bevakning från Oxdjupet. vid öns västra sida ligger försvarsverken Rindö redutt tillsammans tillhörande e batteriet vilket anlades på grund av att komplettera Vaxholms kastell i försvaret av Stockholms inlopp via Kodjupet samt Norra Vaxholmsfjärden.

    Rindö hyste fram mot hösten regementet Första amfibieregementet (Amf&#;1), vilket tidigare hette Vaxholms kustartillerire
