Varför blir man magsjuk? 

Magsjuka orsakas av bakterier, virus eller parasiter och oavsett vad du har smittats av är symptomen ungefär desamma. Det som skulle kunna skilja sig är hur du har smittats och hur lång tid som har gått innan du blir sjuk. Vid magsjuka skadas cellerna i tarmens slemhinna. Tarmen kan inte ta upp lika mycket vätska som den brukar göra och då kan du kräkas och få diarréer.  

Smittar magsjuka? 

Att bli magsjuk via virus är det mest smittsamma sättet och smittar väldigt lätt mellan personer. Därför är det vanligt att flera personer blir magsjuka under samma period, till exempel på jobbet, inom familjen, förskola eller skola. 
Virus kan också smitta genom mat, till exempel om en person som är sjuk lagar mat åt andra.

Vanliga virus som orsakar magsjuka:

• Calicivirus som orsakar vinterkräksjuka.
• Rotavirus, som är den vanligaste orsaken till att barn mellan sex månader och två år blir magsjuka. Vaccin mot rotavirus ingår i vaccinationsprogrammet för barn sedan &
